Scientific and research activities are focused on the development of analytical, numerical and experimental methods in the field of mechanics of materials. A large part of previously completed projects also dealt with the development of different test equipment, which is now used for realization of experiments in wide range of areas.
Main research topics of our Department
The research activities of the Department of Applied Mechanics extend into many areas of mechanics, for example, we can mention rotor dynamics, experimental mechanics, fracture mechanics, biomechanics etc. Department of Applied Mechanics acquired a series of GAČR, TAČR and EU VaVPI projects. The main long-term research activities include:
- Research on nonlinear mathematical models of mechanical systems
- Research on modeling of rotor systems
- Development of methods for data analysis in the field of experimental mechanics
- Research on nondestructive testing (Acoustic emission, Nonlinear ultrasound, Wave theory)
- Research and development of therapeutic tools, equipment and techniques in the field of traumatology, orthopedics, surgery, rehabilitation and veterinary medicine
- Research and development of the working part of medical instruments in the field of biomechanics
- Research on stress-strain behavior of a wide range of materials (especially metals, plastics and composites) under static and cyclic loading
- Experimental determination of the influence of strain, strain rate, temperature, but also the degradation processes, manufacturing technology for lifetime of plastic materials used in the automotive industry
