A dragon spar adorns the entrance to the university's main building

This is the graduation work of Tereza Vašičková, a graduate of the SŠ-COPT. The high school is a faculty school and has long been involved in the development of higher education in the region and in its premises it enables the teaching of study programmes of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering

The hand-engraved dagger with a stand was created as part of a practical graduation project in the field of arts and crafts metalworking on the topic “History of mankind” under the guidance of vocational training teacher David Kranz.

The sculpture was created during the 4th year of vocational training. The theme was pre-specified, but its elaboration depended only on the imagination of each individual. "As human history is extremely rich, it was not easy to find the right idea. I made approximately 20 different motifs before I arrived at the final design. By the end, I knew I would reach for dragon mythology, because we know so little and so much about it at the same time", says Tereza Vašičková.

"I spent approximately 200 hours of pure time on this work without preparation. I am grateful to my vocational teachers who always advised me and helped me to realize my work. It was an interesting and enriching experience, which not only entertained me, but also inspired me to further projects and improve in this field," adds the author.

The exhibit is displayed on the occasion of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the start of teaching at the detached workplace in Uherský Brod and to celebrate the long-standing cooperation between the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of VSB-TUO and the Secondary School - COPT Uherský Brod.
