09 October | On Tuesday, 8 October 2024, Minister of the Environment Petr Hladík visited the stand of the Department of Machining, Assembly and Engineering Metrology of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at this year's 65th International Industrial Fair in Brno.

19 August | The scientific team from the Department of Machine Parts and Mechanisms published an article entitled "Modern Design of Carrier for Overhead Conveyor" in the prestigious journal Applied Sciences published by MDPI.

19 December | The beginning of December was dedicated to a scientific conference for the Department of Robotics, which brought together Master and PhD students in robotics across Czech universities to establish a natural collaboration and share different scientific approaches in the field of planning, artificial intelligence and robotics.

11 December | Better efficiency and greater savings in the context of operation and maintenance are promised at Maxion Wheels after experts from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering helped them to optimise the design of the wheel carrier on the rope conveyor. Doctors Lukáš Hruzík and Miroslav Trochta from the Department of Machine Parts and Mechanisms are behind the innovation, which is already being used in practice.

06 December | In the autumn of this year, students mainly from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of VSB-TUO actively participated in an international workshop called Global Capstone Design 2023. Ten teams consisting of Polish, Korean and Czech students were given the opportunity to work in teams on the topic of Future mobility and compete for the best project.

05 December | The Academic Senate of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering today confirmed by its election the continuation of the current dean in office. Professor Robert Čep was the only candidate on whom all eleven departments agreed in their proposals. He will continue to lead the institution in the 2024-2028 term.

14 November | The cooperation between the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering VSB-TUO and the Ton Duc Thang University in Vietnam has been successfully developing for several years, which was appreciated by the management of both institutions during a recent visit of representatives of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. They brought a gold medal to Vietnam as a thank you for their mutual efforts.

03 November | Representatives of the management of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of VSB-TUO met with His Excellency, Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Vietnam Hynek Kmoníček during their working trip to Vietnamese universities.

31 October | After a demanding competition in the USA, the RoverOva team set off for a traditional racing tour in Kielce, Poland. With their mobile robot, the students did not achieve the impressive, in many cases medal placements from the past, but they managed to break the newcomers in and motivate them to further work in the team.

23 October | There has been a long-standing cooperation between experts from the Department of Mechanical Technology at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and their counterparts at the Faculty of Non-Ferrous Metals of AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow, which has brought interesting scientific findings. Professor Stanislav Rusz now awarded the joint work with a gold medal.

11 October | The Ostrava Formula team finished the racing season by participating in the most prestigious Formula Student competition in Germany. "Qualification alone is a great success. We succeeded for the first time in history and we were looking forward to measuring our strength with the racing elite," described the team captain Zdeněk Petera from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. How did this comparison turn out?

07 September | For the second race of the season, the Formula TU Ostrava team went to Hungary, to the famous Hungaroring. In the competition of 22 teams from all over the world, the Ostrava students managed to snatch the bronze in the dynamic acceleration discipline and overall placed in the middle of the starting field.

07 July | A seven-member delegation of the RoverOva student team recently returned from a prestigious competition in Utah, USA. They won a nice 18th place with their mobile rover in the tasks that are supposed to simulate a mission on Mars, but they will probably not go to the USA again. Why?

16 June | At the end of May, the Department of Applied Mechanics in cooperation with the Technical University of Korea organized an event called Global Startup Camp 2023. Six teams consisting of Korean and Czech students were given the opportunity to compare their design skills and compete for the best project.

06 June | This year's fourth edition of the prestigious Czech Industry Challenge was successful for the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of VSB-TUO. Both applications submitted to the competition in the autumn turned into gold. Creative recruitment activities from the campaign called The mechanical engineer: a star won the award.

22 May | The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has held another student competition, which this time tested the design skills, knowledge of the field and the ability to work in a team among students of the Applied Mechanics programme.

20 April | The scientific team from the Department of Machining, Assembly and Engineering Metrology, which works with additive technologies at the Protolab 3D Printing Centre, can celebrate a huge publication success. Their paper, published two years ago in Polymers magazine, won the prestigious Best Paper Award 2023.

28 March | Using additive technologies, they can custom-make a protective half-mask, missing component parts, dentures or a scooter frame. This year, however, the experts at the Protolab 3D Printing Centre at the Department of Machining, Assembly and Engineering Metrology at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at VSB-TUO decided to overcome another challenge - to significantly improve the surface properties of metal prints.

21 March | One repaired motorcycle every year. This March, the VSB-TUO Restoration Workshop celebrated its fourth birthday, and on this occasion presented its newest, fourth restored piece in a row - a ČZ 150c motorcycle from 1950.

20 February | Magda Krčmářová was charmed by her stay in a foreign country. The third-year student of the Bachelor's degree at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering came from Odense, Denmark, full of impressions that she wants to share and inspire her classmates to go. "It's the best thing you can do during your studies," she says.
