About study programme
The branch Robotics is a quality construction branch, which besides very good knowledge of structural design provides also expert knowledge in the field of designing of automated production systems. Graduates will also obtain lots of related knowledge in industrial control, sensors and driving systems.
Because of this extraordinary combination of multidisciplinary knowledge, the graduates of Robotics are highly desired on the labor market even in braches that have absolutely no connection with robotics and are very well paid.
Graduate's employment
Graduates of a three-year bachelor's study of "Robotics" can be employed as a technical designer of the robot´s elements, manipulators and peripheral equipments of robotic workplaces, (conveyors, hoppers, grippers of industrial robots, etc.), but also as designers of these devices. They get the practical experience with the operation and programming of industrial robots, service robots and robotic workplaces in the laboratories of the Department of Robotics.
Possibilities of their employment are not limited to the engineering, because the robots, especially the service robots, are rapidly applied in many other branches such as agriculture, health service, glass, food, textile and footwear industries, services, police, army, etc.
The goal of the study is to educate experts, primarily focused on application of robotics and designing of selected subsystems, as well as those who will be able to design and control mechatronic systems.
Study aims
The study branch "Robotics” is focused of the designing, construction and control of industrial robots and manipulators. The branch is focused also on the design and control of robotic technology workplaces. Depending on new trends in robotics, the education is oriented also on service robots and for interested in biorobotics. The direct part of study is unassisted routine of individual work on computers for a whole spectrum of activities, from using word processors, through spreadsheets, and master designing and modeling by using 2D and 3D CAD systems, (AutoCAD, Pro/ENGINEER, Robot Studio), programming, up to the use of computers in control systems and in automated equipment.
Graduate's knowledge
Besides knowledge of subjects on a theoretical base, graduates of this bachelor study gain large knowledge about the construction of industrial and service robots, about their application in practice and about what is required to maintain, operate and test them. They are made acquainted with the procedures of building a robotized workplace in various industrial and service branches, in the automation of selected activities and technologies. In addition to this, they receive knowledge about the peripheral robotized workplace, its management, and the procedures and means for experimental and diagnostic branch activities.
Graduate's skills
Based on practical experience in the operation and programming of robots and the robotized workplace in the laboratories of the Department of Robotics, they are able to solve this problem for various types of robotized workplace.
An important part of study is being able to work with and attain a high level of knowledge to work with IT in special subjects and this knowledge is also integrated into sectional branch subjects - for safeguarding operational, structural, programmer, computer, experimental and other activities.
Graduate's general competence
On the basis of an assignment and available resources to solve technical problems, coordinate the design team and be accountable for its results. Clearly and persuasively communicate both professionals and laymen about the nature of professional problems and their own views on their solution.
