Metallography Laboratory (E427): It is used for the evaluation and documentation of pre-prepared samples of steels, cast irons, and non-ferrous metals. The actual evaluation of the samples is carried out using OLYMPUS equipment, namely a stereomicroscope, an optical microscope, and a laser scanning confocal microscope. For further property evaluation, the laboratory is equipped with a hardness tester (HV and HB), a Hanemann micro-hardness tester (HV0,1–HV0,001), an endoscope, and a thermal imaging camera. All of these instruments are used in the comprehensive analysis of changes in metallic materials and help to determine the state of the heat treatment, the location and extent of metal damage, the cause of the damage, and the time at which it occurred.
